These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the PH First website, browser extension, and related services (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. About the Service

PH First is a news aggregation and fact-checking platform that monitors news coverage in the Philippines. The Service gathers news from public sources, identifies claims made by public figures and organisations, and provides analysis, fact checks, and credibility assessments.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and that you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

3. Accounts and Eligibility

Some parts of the Service require an account. When you create an account you must provide accurate and complete information, keep it up to date, and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Violate any applicable law or regulation;
Infringe the intellectual property or other rights of others;
Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation;
Submit false, defamatory, or abusive content;
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its systems, or other users' accounts;
Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the Service without our permission; or
Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Service.

5. User-Generated Content

The Service may allow you to submit fact-check requests, flag claims, post community notes, or provide other content. You retain ownership of the content you submit and grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and use it to operate the Service. You are solely responsible for the content you submit and confirm that you have the right to submit it.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by PH First or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly permitted.

News articles and other content gathered from public sources remain the property of their respective owners and are used for monitoring and commentary purposes.

7. No Professional Advice

Content on the Service is provided for general information and educational purposes only. It is not professional, legal, financial, or investment advice. You should not rely on it as a substitute for advice from qualified professionals.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. While we strive to be accurate and fair, we do not warrant that content is error-free, complete, or current. Fact checks and assessments reflect our analysis at the time of publication and may change.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PH First shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites and services. We do not control and are not responsible for their content or practices. Your use of third-party services is subject to their own terms and policies.

11. Copyright and Takedown

News articles, headlines, and other content gathered from public sources remain the property of their respective owners and are used for monitoring, analysis, and commentary. We publish only short excerpts of articles (not full text) and always link to the original source.

If you are a rights holder and believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, or if you would like your publication or content removed from the Service, please contact us at legal@ph-first.org. We will review requests promptly and remove or disable access to the content, and stop monitoring the affected source upon request.
